Arkansas is a state located in the southern region of the United States. Its name is an Algonquin name of the Quapaw Indians. It is known as the “Natural State”. Car travel here, as in most of the United States, is quickest. Interstate 40 crosses the state from Fort Smith to Memphis, passing through Little Rock. The interstate also goes south from Little Rock to Texarkana. Arkansas is still close enough to this warm, large body of water for it to influence the weather in the state. Generally, Arkansas has hot, humid summers and cold, slightly drier winters. Arkansas’s 50 state parks provide some of the best outdoor experiences in the country. From mountaintop hideaways with cloud-capped lodges to lakeshore cabins with cozy fireplaces to riverside campsites along the famous White River, you’ll find it all in Arkansas.
Other adventurous things to do in Arkansas include rafting down the Buffalo River, swamp tours, a museum village recreating life in frontier Arkansas, a diamond mine where you’ll search for “finders keepers” gems, prehistoric Native American mounds, world and many others.

Oklahoma is a state located in the South Central region of the United States of America. Oklahoma is a state in the Great Plains region of the United States of America. Oklahoma celebrates their centennial of statehood in 2007. Oklahoma became a state on November 16th, 1907. Many people in the world associate Oklahoma City with a terriorist act, while others think of the state as the desolate and windswept depression-era landscape described in Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath. While the former is aware of it’s past and celebrates the human sprit discovered from the tragic events of April 19, 1995, the latter is far from true now. Oklahoma is located in a temperate region and experiences occasional extremes of temperature and precipitation typical in a continental climate. Will Rogers World Airport located in Oklahoma City and Tulsa International Airport in Tulsa are the two major state airports for domestic and international air travel. Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum in Oklahoma City. The memorial is both one of the most visible attractions in the city as well as the saddest, which has posed some problems for the city’s tourism department.

Coloradans can be described as “cultured cowboys”, both rugged and classy. Denver offers the hustle and bustle of a quickly growing city, however escape to the wilderness is less than an hour and a half away. City planners have also been careful to leave ample room for parks, greenways, and natural scenery throughout the city. There is even a kayaking course on the Platte River in the middle of downtown!Colorado is split down the middle north to south by the Rocky Mountains. To the east is a region of high prairie, dry and wide open. To the west are rugged mountains arranged in various groups or ranges. All major airlines fly into Denver International Airport as it is the major hub for the region, and in fact the ninth busiest airport in the world.Amtrakruns the California Zephyr from Emeryville to Chicago, stopping in Denver, Winter Park, Grandby, Glenwood Springs, and Grand Junction.

Its rugged, indented coastline and glacier-carved, forested interior give this state its unique character and have shaped the character of its people, Maine shares land borders with New Brunswick, Québec, and New Hampshire. For visitors from overseas or the rest of the United States, Boston is the major gateway to Maine. Coastal areas are moderated somewhat by the Atlantic Ocean. Daytime highs are generally in the 75–80 °F (24–27 °C) range throughout the state in July, with overnight lows in the high 50s°F (around 15 °C). January temperatures range from highs near 32 °F (0 °C) on the southern coast to overnight lows below 0 °F (−18 °C) in the far north. There is bus service from Boston to Maine’s major cities, and the Amtrak Downeaster offers train service from Boston’s North Station to Portland. Mount Desert Island is home to Acadia National Park—Maine’s most visited attraction. More than 2 million people a year come to climb (mostly by car) the miles of 19th-century carriage roads leading to the stunning peaks and vistas of the island’s mountains

Most people enter (and leave) Iowa via Interstate 80 if coming from the east or west, I-35 from the north or south. Both interstates are pretty easy to navigate, as are many Midwestern states,Its rich cultural heritage can be seen in the German Amana Colonies, with their many historic sites and museums. The tulips of Pella reflect the town’s Dutch past and Des Moines, Iowa’s capital, was clearly named by French explorers.Iowa was home to many famous individuals such as Herbert Hoover, John Wayne (born in Winterset, Madison County), Glenn Miller and Grant Wood, to name a few. It was part of the Lewis and Clark expedition and many other historic events.

Connecticut is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States. It is bordered by Rhode Island to the east, Massachusetts to the north, and New York to the west and south.Connecticut is rich with history, nature, art and beauty. Truly something for everyone. While many people are drawn each year to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos, there is much more in this state. There are a number of beaches at the shore, state parks and forests throughout the state, and many smaller parks as well. Gillette Castle State Park in East Haddam is an excellent family destination,The Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers Valley in northeastern Connecticut has been called “the last green valley” in the Boston-to-Washington megalopolis. Close to Hartford, Providence, and Worcester but far enough away to avoid urban sprawl, this 850 square mile region remains predominately rural. Roadways winding through rolling hills link the region’s many small towns, villages, farmlands and forests. Old mills dot the lowlands along the Quinebaug and Shetucket rivers and their tributaries. The park is best reached through Putnam. Connecticut is the infamous birthplace of Lyme Disease. Make sure you know what to do if you are bitten. Tick season is usually from the spring to the fall.

California is the most populous state in the United States, and the third largest by land area, after Alaska and Texas; it is also the second most populous sub-national entity in the Americas, behind only São Paulo, Brazil.California coastline has a Mediterranean climate and as such, has attracted large populations and have successfully used political means, particularly in the southern region (Los Angeles in particular) to redirect water resources from both northern regions and other states to serve thirsty populations. Central California is the breadbasket of the nation.California is one of the largest states in the US (trailing Alaska and Texas in size) and is referred to as the Golden State, which originates from the gold rush of 1849. Very few miners did anything but become broke, while those that supplied the miners with materials grew very rich.Lake Tahoe — A large, gorgeous lake great for water sports and excellent skiing in the winter. Napa Valley — Spas, wine tasting, wine tours. Big Sur — one of the most scenic spots along the Pacific Coast Highway.Californians have a wide variety of political views. The Central Valley and Orange County tend to be more conservative, while the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area (except for Orange County) and the San Francisco Bay area tend to be more liberal. The San Diego Metropolitan Area tends to be moderate. Southern California is also known for its theme parks: Disneyland, California Adventure, Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, and many more. These places are very fun to visit, and continue bring in tourists by the millions every year. If you go Disney, always use fast-passes to get yourself scheduled on the popular rides. If you go Universal, bite the bullet and get VIP passes — you’ll do all the popular rides in a single morning — otherwise prepare to wait 2 hours per ride!Anaheim, home to the literal ancestor of all modern theme parks, Disneyland ,Santa Barbara, city on a south-facing coast which styles itself, with some justification, as “the American Riviera.”
