Columbia long and rich history has contributed to more than 150 monuments that can be visited in all areas of the country. Historical monuments show the culture and tradition of ancient times. Few examples of national monuments are being discussed here. The renovation was made to promote and enhance El Volador as an important reference point in the valley by protecting and restoring the natural, cultural, historical, and ancestral heritage found at the site, converting the area into an educational public space. the Colombian Institute of Anthropology and History (ICANH), for being an environmental oasis in the city, as well as an ancestral heritage point for the region because of archaeological relics found there.
The Big Apple is a building dedicated to the memory of African-American youths in Columbia, who in the 1930s created the Big Apple dance at the Big Apple Nightclub. The musical revolution caught the attention of dance school founder Arthur Murray and band leader Tommy Dorsey, who composed “The Big Apple Swing.”
The African-American History Monument was dedicated to African-American history in Columbia. Carved by Ed Dwight, a sculptor from Denver, the monument represents different eras, beginning with the Middle Passage (the forcible migration of Africans to the New World as slaves).
The Catedral Primada, located on the famous Plaza de Bolivar, is the city’s largest church and the debated location of the first Catholic mass in Bogota. The tomb of Bogota’s founder, Jiménez de Quesada, is found in one of the cathedral’s chapels.
Buildings considered to be monuments are found on or near the Plaza de Bolivar in the center of the city. The Palace of Justice, home of Colombia’s Supreme Court, stands with the neoclassical National Capitol, home of Colombia’s congress on Bolivar Plaza. The Palace of San Carlos is the home and monument to its one-time inhabitant, Simon Bolivar.

Santa Marta, on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, (see map from Expedia), boasts a fine natural harbor and splendid views, but that’s only part of the reason the Spaniards chose it for their first settlement. Air-conditioned busses run daily to Bogotá and other cities, plus local runs to nearby communities, and Tayrona Park. San Andres island is small; it is a tender port. There are some vendors and taxis waiting on the street when you arrive at a small, non-commercial jetty. You can rent a car from places in-town and drive around the total perimeter. You can snorkel at a spot where there were many fish, not pretty ones, but hungry little ones who want to be fed. You can also stop at a hole in the ground where water sprayed up on occasion, and a woman’s house who sold painted fish made of driftwood. Where can you find the perfect mix between the adrenaline of zip lining, wall climbing, and mountain bike riding, or trekking in the mountain and the beauty and peace of nature? Come with us to the Natural Reserve Mamancana for this all-around experience. Temperatures in the city of Santa Marta ranges from 27 to 35 degrees Celsius at sea level, but the Municipality of Santa Marta stretches up to the highest snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and each 100 meter of higher altitude means 1 Celsius lower temperature. Santa Marta is a bit rough around the edges but again the people are the most friendly we have come across on this trip. Founded in 1525 by Roger de Bastidas, Santa Marta is ideally located for visits to the Santa Marta mountain range, second in height only to the Andes running through Colombia and two national parks. Hola and Welcome to our Santa Marta online accommodation booking portal! Being such a beautiful and dynamic destination, there is a wide range of hotels in Santa Marta to accommodate its visitors. We are a local company in Santa Marta and so are able to offer you the best deals and advice regarding your holiday in our beautful city! Catering to any taste and budget, we offer a range of Santa Marta hotels selected by our local team that suit all budgets, from cheap Santa Marta hostels and guesthouses to more luxurious Santa Marta hotels and resorts and Santa Marta vacation homes and apartment rentals.

Barranquilla is one of the most beautiful cities in Colombia. It’s worth to travel and be witness to one of the most representative festivities in the whole Latin-Americans region: the Carnival. It is ranked as the second in South America, but truly they have their own charm and can be a very exciting and memorable experience. The weather in Barranquilla is hot and humid (29ºC and 65% of relative humidity), with no much variation along the year. However, northern winds cool the city in a period between December and February, making weather more comfortable. Barranquilla has many beautiful beaches, and landscapes. The city is home to one of the most important folk and cultural festivals of Colombia, the Carnival of Barranquilla, which was declared a National Cultural Heritage by the Congress of Colombia in 2001 and recognized by UNESCO in 2003.A quick walk from the Catedral Metropolitan is another important landmark, Casa del Carnaval, where dancers and musicians go over the start of the celebration. It’s a Republican building from 1929 situated at the edge of the traditional and Carnival neighborhoods’ Abajo and Montecristo, donated by the family of a businessmen and patrons of the Carnival, Caridi. Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport was built in Barranquilla in 1919, becoming the first airport in South America. The first mention of the territory now occupied by Barranquilla dates back to 1533 and was written by Gonzalo Fernández de Oviedo y Valdés. It describes the travel of Pedro de Heredia, founder of Cartagena, only weeks before founding the city, who affirms that this point was a berth for the canoes of indios of the Government of Santa Marta. He mentions two canoes full of dried shrimps which they carried as merchandise to sell along the Magdalena River, together with salt and other things.

Buenaventura is a port city and municipality located in the department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia (South America). Buenaventura is the main port of Colombia in the Pacific Ocean.Buenaventura itself doesn’t have much to offer the tourist. The city is rough-looking and when the tide carries away the water, the litter-strewn mud flat which is exposed does little to inspire bathing. Buenaventura really only serves the tourist as a gateway to more interesting and picturesque parts such as Juanchaco and Ladrilleros, several kilometers north along the coast, and San Cipriano, a jungle town located slightly inland. The main bus terminal is near the centre of Buenaventura. In an effort to promote tourism in and around the city there often helpful guides on hand to give you information and to lead you to the dock if you plan to visit Juanchaco and Ladrilleros. They are easily visible in tour guide T-Shirts and if you don’t spot them chances are they’ll spot you.Buenaventura’s population is mostly of African descent (85%) with 10% mixed European/Native Indian and 5% Spanish.

Medellin is a modern and vibrant city and yet remains true to its regional characteristics with its beautiful and stunning natural scenery. The city of Medellin is Colombia’s second largest city and said to be one of the most beautiful cities in all of South America. its climate is not as hot as other cities located at the same latitude near the equator. And due to its altitude above sea level as well as a privileged location in the Andes Range, Medellin’s weather is more characteristic of a humid subtropical climate rather than that of a tropical climate. Parquet Botero and its sculptures is probably one of the most famous attractions within Medellin (the info here at the hostel calls them “infamous” but unless I’m missing something, this is just a misinterpretation). The figures are bronze and what you might call bottom-heavy. That is the animals, the people; they all have small heads and narrow shoulders but blow out from the bottom down. I also checked out the Botanic Gardens though after living in Sydney and enjoying what our own Botanic Gardens back home have to offer, I wasn’t incredibly impressed. They do however, have a draw card that you wouldn’t find back home: South American wildlife such as woodpeckers and iguan. Good cuisine and nightlife aside, there’s n denying that Medellin is a troubled city where violence is commonplace. In the downtown streets you pass naked children trembling in the gutter, semi conscious after sniffing too much glue. La Festival de Flores [SSS], one of the most unique festivals in the world, when the compassions from Antioquia come to the city to display their flower designs. The weeklong celebrations feature a number of events, including an antique car parade, horse parade, and the grand finale, the flower float parade, where young and old alike display their flower designs in a 3- or 4-hour parade, also featuring dancers, singers, and performers. Be sure to book your plane ticket far in advance if you’ll be in Medellin during this time. If you’re interested in riding Medellin’s cable-car system, take the Metro to the Acevedo station, from which you can board the cable car.

Arkansas is a state located in the southern region of the United States. Its name is an Algonquin name of the Quapaw Indians. It is known as the “Natural State”. Car travel here, as in most of the United States, is quickest. Interstate 40 crosses the state from Fort Smith to Memphis, passing through Little Rock. The interstate also goes south from Little Rock to Texarkana. Arkansas is still close enough to this warm, large body of water for it to influence the weather in the state. Generally, Arkansas has hot, humid summers and cold, slightly drier winters. Arkansas’s 50 state parks provide some of the best outdoor experiences in the country. From mountaintop hideaways with cloud-capped lodges to lakeshore cabins with cozy fireplaces to riverside campsites along the famous White River, you’ll find it all in Arkansas.
Other adventurous things to do in Arkansas include rafting down the Buffalo River, swamp tours, a museum village recreating life in frontier Arkansas, a diamond mine where you’ll search for “finders keepers” gems, prehistoric Native American mounds, world and many others.
