Medellín is the second largest city in Colombia. It has over 2 million people and is the capital of the department of Antioquia. It’s set in a valley running south to north just under one hour by plane from Bogotá.Medellín is a beautiful city, modern and yet true to its regional characteristics. It was founded in 1616 in the scenic Aburrá valley, but remained small until the coffee boom. It later became the center of a textile industry, and today is a modern, vibrant city.The city is know as the “City of Eternal Spring” due to its mild climate all year long.
